October is Lupus awareness month – what to do?

So I am embarrassed to admit that even though I have been diagnosed with Lupus I still know NOTHING about it. I am an avid readee and as a lawyer think very black and white – as such it is very hard for me to be told that I have a lifelong illness but with no actual causation. How could I go from running 100 mile weeks to now barely be able to walk up and down the stairs?  How did this happen and what if anything did I do to cause it?
Earlier my close friend mentioned that October is “Lupus Awareness Month” I feel the need to do something and hope some of you are able to spread the word and help. I am looking for suggestions for ideas of a project that I can take on this month to help support others with this condition.  Any suggestions would be appreciated and when I do come up with an idea of how I will participate I will let you guys know.  As far as a general update on my health, the steroids and oxygen really seem to be helping combat the fatigue. Unfortunately,  they steroid meds are giving me severe heartburn which is affecting my weight. As someone who openly steuggles with weight, I love how skinny I look but also know that this could really turn into a major problem and would completely take away all of the work that I have done over the past few years in dealing with my anorexia and bulimia so I am really trying to watch this and am eatinv even though I have little to no appetite.  More later xo
Ps PLEASE give me some ideas, its already October!
